THE ELITE HURDLE IS A PATTERN RACE TRIAL FOR THE CHAMPION HURDLE AT CHELTENHAM
The Elite Hurdle is one of the best early season races run over a distance of two miles at Wincanton each November. It is a Grade 2 race that often acts as a decent trial race for the Champion hurdle at Cheltenham later in the season. The race was first run back in 1992 at Cheltenham but moved to Wincanton just a couple of years later where it has remained ever since.
The Elite Hurdle has been won by some excellent horses down the years including the likes of Azertyuiop, Well Chief and Zarkandar who won the race in good style in 2012. The quality of these three horses is without question which highlights how important this race can prove to be on the National Hunt calendar.
