THE JNWINE CHAMPION CHASE IS A PATTERN RACE TRIAL FOR THE GOLD CUP AT CHELTENHAM
The Down Royal JNwine Champion Chase is one of the very best early season races when it comes to the staying chasers division. It has been won by some of the best horses of recent memory and offers punters some nice early season clues when it comes to the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The race was first run back in 1999 but it has quickly grown into a popular race with trainers and jockeys alike with a top quality field of runners almost guaranteed.
There are a couple of stand-out names on the list of recent winners including the great Kauto Star who was a regular at Down Royal. The Paul Nicholls horse won the race twice while the same can be said of top Irish chaser, Beef or Salmon, who triumphed here in 2004 and 2006.
