Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle 2017 Results

Willie Mullins and Paul Townend teamed up for their second winner on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival as Penhill was a gutsy winner of the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle, as the red-hot favourite Death Duty failed to land any sort of blow and crashed out at the final flight.

Most of the principles in the betting kept off a brisk gallop, but it was Augusta Kate who was the first to fly the white flag as he fell off the back, but Wholestone, Monalee and Penhill were the ones catching the eye, as Death Duty failed to pick up.

However, it was Penhill that quickened the best after the final flight, and he fought off Monalee to win this Grade 1 prize, while Wholestone completed the placings, as he just tired in the closing stages in what was another Irish-trained winner.
