Shattered Love handed Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy more Cheltenham Festival glory on Thursday afternoon, as the classy mare stormed to emphatic victory in the JLT Novices' Chase, which saw the Irish pick up another winner at this year's National Hunt extravaganza.
Having piloted Samcro to victory in yesterday's opener, 18-year-old Kennedy was ice-cool yet again, as he kept the mare out of any trouble just off the rail, and then pounced on the front-running Terrefort in the closing stages to record his second Grade 1 win of the week.
Invitation Only had been a drifter in the betting having been the favourite in the morning, and his race was run when he made a glaring error in the middle of the race, while Modus and Finian's Oscar both had jumping issues the whole way round, and it was left to Terrefort and Shattered Love to battle it out.
But, it was the Elliott-trained mare that showed she was more than good enough for the boys, and she went on to beat Terrefort by seven lengths, with the free Benatar producing a gutsy performance to finish third in a superb start to Thursday's action.
