The Ryanair Chase betting picture has been further muddied this weekend with the emergence of Riverside Theatre as a genuine contender. The Nicky Henderson horse was making his first start for a year but produced one of his career best displays to claim a comfortable win at Ascot. The horse was subsequently slashed for the Ryanair Chase with the Cheltenham race now proving one of the the most difficult from a punters point of view. At this stage the betting is tight for the Ryanair Chase with a number of horses being backed to run a big race and Riverside Theatre clearly deserves to be in the frame. The Nicky Henderson yard is in great form at the moment and after winning at the weekend after a year off he could improve still further at Cheltenham if he takes his chance.
The Ascot Chase looks like a good trial for the Ryanair Chase with Riverside Threatre beating the ever dependable Medermit into second place. Both horses are engaged in the race at Cheltenham and the length of Riverside Theatres' victory over a good horse like Medermit looks to be decent form. Another one for punters to consider in the betting is the exciting Rubi Light who looks to be the best challenger from Ireland this season. The horse has been mixing it in top company all season and he confirmed his promise once again over the weekend when he hacked up to win the Red Mills Chase. Connections have confirmed he will go to the Cheltenham Festival if he remains fit and he adds another fascinating angle to what could be one of the races of the Festival. Albertas Run will be back to defend the race he has won for the last two years and although he has been injured recently he cannot be ruled out either in one of the tightest betting races of the season.
