Peace And Co was a cracking winner of the JCB Triumph Hurdle, as the 2/1 favourite outbattled Top Notch in a thrilling finish to the opening race on the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, as Nicky Henderson trained the first three home in what was a sensational start for punters on Gold Cup day at Prestbury Park.

Ruby Walsh set a fierce gallop from the outsetas he set to lead from the flag fall aboard Dicosimo in the Triumph, but he was gradually reeled in as they free-wheeled down the hill and there was a Henderson-trained battalion that were stalking the Irish charge with the triumvirate of Peace And Co, Top Notch and Hargam all going superbly well.

Approaching the last flight of hurdles it was Top Notch who just had a narrow lead and produced a fine leap to maintain his momentum, but on his inside Barry Geraghty was biding his time on Peace And Co, who had attracted significant support in the lead-up to the race, and he duly got to work on his market leader.

AP McCoy was trying to cajole Hargam into contention, as he rides for the very day at the Cheltenham Festival, but he could finish no better than third and it was Peace And Co who just oozed that little extra bit of class to see off his stablemate Top Notch, who ran a cracker in what was a Seven Barrows clean sweep in the Friday curtain-raiser.
