Paddy Power will be hoping for some shock results in the opening two races of the Cheltenham Festival, as the Irish bookmaker has elected to offer a brace of Money Back Specials. The betting firm will firstly return win singles up to £50 should Douvan win the Supreme Novices' Hurdle, whilst a race later they will offer the same money back special should Un De Sceaux romp to Arkle Trophy glory.
The Dublin-based bookmaker has become synonmous with taking on the red-hot favourites on the first day of the festival and in recent years has had some success with both Dunguib and Cue Card failing to sparkle in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
However, Paddy Power elected to take on Sprinter Sacre in the 2012 Arkle Trophy and Nicky Henderson's charge duly romped to victory and with many punters celebrating a win for the Seven Barrows favourite, Paddy Power were forced to return all losing win singles.
Douvan is already a warm order for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle having been imperious in Ireland and the Rich Ricci-owned star looks a hurdling star of the future, but he will have a lively rival in the shape of L'ami Serge in what should be a terrific curtain-raiser to the four-day National Hunt extravaganza.
For the first time ever Paddy Power are offering back-to-back Money Back Specials at the Cheltenham Festival and Un De Sceaux is as short as 1/2 for the Arkle Trophy and he looks every bit a superstar for the 2m Grade 1, and he could well notch consecutive victories for the aforementioned Mullins.
