Noel Fehily gets his first Cheltenham Festival success in the last race at this years festival. Noel Fehily one of racings gentlemen rode his first winner at the Cheltenham Festival on a horse called Silver Jaro in the County Hurldle. Noel is the retained jockey of Lambourn trainer Charlie Mann and is second rider after Tony McCoy to the J P McManus runners. This was a much deserved success for this jockey who has really soft hands and generally gives his mounts great confidence and gets the maximum from his horses.
In the 25th and last race of this years festival he went to post on the 50/1 chance thinking that another festival had passed him by. However this was not to be the case as the gods were smiling on him as he saw off the late challenge on Paco the well backed favourite. Much of the focus after the race centred on the runner-up, but little should be taken away from the winner, who was landing his first success for connections since leaving Jonjo O'Neill last August. He had started to look like a horse who ran well without winning, but his determination under pressure could not be faulted this time, and he held on well after pressing on from the second-last hurdle. His fine effort in the Pierse Hurdle two runs ago stood him in good stead for this and he and Noel both deserved this victory.
