The Irish team have dominated the RSA Chase at Cheltenham in recent years and that could be set to continue this year with Last Instalment looking a major threat. Raiders from across the Irish Sea have won the RSA Chase for the past three years and there is every chance they could make it number four in 2012. The Philip Fenton trained Last Instalment has won four successive races this season including the Moriarty Novice Chase over the weekend. The Leopardstown race has been won the subsequent RSA Chase winner for the last three years and many believe Last Instalment has a real chance of continuing that trend. The horse looks to be improving through the season and is likely to go to Cheltenham as the leading Irish contender in the betting for the big novice chase of the meeting.
Last Instalment will want some cut in the ground at Cheltenham if he is to have genuine claims which could well hurt his chances in the Spring. The ground staff at Prestbury Park will be eager to see the ground good during the meeting which has been the norm over the past few years. The RSA Chase Betting this season has been dominated by the exciting Grands Crus who looks to be the best of the British novices this season with Cheltenham only weeks away. Connections have been considering sending Grands Crus to the Gold Cup this season despite the fact he is a novice but it appears that the RSA route is the more likely. We know that the ground will not worry Grands Crus at Cheltenham which makes him an attractive price but a little rain before the race will see Last Instalment become a major threat for the big race.
