The 2011 Cheltenham Festival is fast approaching and we have had the initial list of entries for the Gold Cup, the feature race of the Festival is always the one to watch and the list of 34 runners include the winners of the last four runnings. As expected the stand out names are 2007 and 2009 winner Kauto Star, 2008 winner Denman and the current Champion Imperial Commander who will be back to defend his crown for Nigel Twiston-Davies. The sport is getting ready for the clash between the trio of big names and provided they all stay fit and healthy all three will be at Cheltenham on the 18th March for the big race. No one could ignore the style of Imperial Commander's win last season and if he can reproduce that run he will be tough to beat once again 2011. If any horse can then it will be the great Kauto Star who already has two Gold Cups on his CV and connections report him to be better than ever at home.
At the moment the bookmakers are struggling to split Imperial Commander and Kauto Star in the Cheltenham Gold Cup Betting but punters will also be loathed to overlook the chances of Denman. The 2008 winner is a favourite with punters and his run in the Hennessy Gold Cup in November off of a huge weight proved he is still a horse of the highest quality. The Tank loves it around Cheltenham and is sure to run his race at Prestbury Park making him one to watch with this likely to be his last realistic chance of winning the race at 11 years old. There are also one or two other notable entries for the Gold Cup and getting ready to head to the 2011 Cheltenham Festival in March, they include the Hennessy Gold Cup Winner Diamond Harry and the Lexus Chase winner Pandorama from Ireland and both have good chances on form. Another interesting entry at this early stage is Midnight Chase who simply loves it around Cheltenham having won races at both the Open and International Meetings this season; he is fast improving type and could well prove excellent each-way value for punters.
