There may be some tough times going on within racing at the moment with regard to the Levy agreement but the Cheltenham Festival has received a boost today with the news that JCB has extended its association with the Triumph Hurdle. It is a timely boost for the National Hunt season as the top class racing really kicks into action, it has also been announced that JCB will be backing Triumph Hurdle trial races at the Open meeting this weekend, the International meeting in December and the Trials weekend in January. The deal will cover the three trial races and the Triumph Hurdle itself at the Festival through to 2012; it will give us and punters a clear form path for the race right up to the Festival with the trial races likely to prove crucial.
The JCB Triumph Hurdle has developed into a nice race at the Festival with several top class types winning this race before going onto bigger and better things. The likes of Katchit, Celestial Halo and Zaynar have won this one and gone onto prove to be contenders and even winners in the Champion Hurdle, the 2011 race is already looking competitive with the betting offering up some good value at the ante post stage. One that is being mentioned for a Triumph Hurdle run at this early stage is A Media Luz who after running on the flat in France during the summer, is now with Nicky Henderson and could be heading for a big Cheltenham Festival run over the small obstacles.
