Gordon Elliott racked up his seventh winner of the 2018 Cheltenham Festival, as Farclas was a superb winner of the JCB Triumph Hurdle, as the 9/1 shot got the better of fellow Irish runner Mr Adjudicator, with Apple's Shakira struggling to land a blow for favourite backers in the Friday curtain-raiser.
Heavily-backed throughout the day, Apple's Shakira was looking to get punters off to the ideal start, but she ran no sort of race at all, and it was left to the Irish raiders to rise to the top once again, and it was Farclas in the Gigginstown House Stud colours that landed the prize.
Travelling off the pace for most of the race, Jack Kennedy produced his mount upsides Stormy Ireland at the last, but as that one fell it was Mr Adjuidcator that would be the biggest danger, but teenager Kennedy managed to drive his mount clear up the hill, as Farclas notched his first win under Rules, and went on to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths.
Nicky Henderson's Apple's Shakira could only finish fourth, as Mr Adjudicator finished second and Sayo completed the placings with a brave effort in defeat.
