Sky Sports football presenter Ed Chamberlin has been announced as the main presenter for the brand new ITV Racing contract in 2017. Chamberlin, a former employee of Ladbrokes, is a well known racing fan and brings with a host of live presenting experience as he leaves Sky Sports after 16 years.
Best known for hosting Monday Night Football and Super Sunday, Chamberlin will front the ITV Racing from next year with the January 1st meeting at Cheltenham set to be the first fixture of the new contractf ro Chamberlin.
ITV have announced that a minimum of 34 race days a year will be on their flagship ITV Channel, whilst a further 60 will be on ITV4 as they take over the exclusive rights to British horse Racing from Channel 4. Flagging viewing figures have seen ITV take over from the much maligned CH4 coverage which has overseen a real dip in audience numbers on the big days.
Chamberlin is the first name of the new line-up to be announced with the remainder of the presenting team unlikely to be announced until after Euro 2016 with debate continuing to rage about potential presenters.. So far, the addition of Chamberlin has been met with a positive response on social media from the majority of racing fans and it will be fascinating to see which other names are added to the presenting team in the coming weeks and months.
