In 2009 we had a super flat horse in Sea The Stars and in 2010 we may just have a new star of the National Hunt in Dunguib. Certainly he has done everything spot on in his short career. Last season he was only beaten on his Bumper debut by On Raglan Road, but since then, nothing both in Bumpers on over hurdles has got near him.
We are only just in December and he is already almost unbackable for the Supreme Novices Hurdle on the opening day of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival having won his first three Novice Hurdles without breaking sweat. The latest at the rearranged Fairyhouse meeting where in the Grade 1 Royal Bond he ran all over some pretty decent novices including runner up Some Present. The bookies have reacted by knocking his odds for the Supreme Novices into as short as 6/4 with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes, but there are still some brave layers in Victor Chandler who are offering 2/1 but that will not probably last longer than their odds compilers getting a chance to watch the replay of the race!
Already there is talk that he may go for the Champion Hurdle, but that is only talk and while he may go for the Irish Champion Hurdle in the New Year, it maybe worth a little chat with your local bookie who you may persuade to offer you a price for the 2011 Champion Hurdle.
