Cue Card will miss the Cheltenham Festival for the second year in a row, as the Colin Tizzard-trained raider was found to have a slight wind problem, and the Milborne Port handler indicated that his stable star will not take his chance in the Ryanair Chase next Thursday. A winner of the race in 2013, the former Champion Bumper star was unable to try and retain his crown 12 months ago after a stress fractured ruled him out of the National Hunt extravaganza, and there was more agony for connections this morning after the nine-year-old was found to have breathing issues.
Tizzard indicated that it was not a serious setback and he expects his Grade 1 winner to be back in time for Aintree's Grand National meeting next month, but he told the Racing Post, "He won't be going to Cheltenham. He's got a small wind problem that will be sorted today and he should be all right for Aintree"
With the news breaking there was a major shake-up in the latest Ryanair Chase betting and it's Gordon Elliott's Don Cossack that has shortened significantly and the progressive Irish raider is now a 7/2 shot with Paddy Power for the race the 2m 5f race that is one of the feature events on day three of the meeting.
