This time of year is always an exciting one for fans and punters of National Hunt racing and that has been heightened by the news that tickets for the 2012 Cheltenham Festival will soon be available. Cheltenham have confirmed that they will host 16 fixtures through the end of 2011 and into 2012 with the Festival of course proving the most popular amongst fans. Punters will be able to but tickets for any of the meetings at Cheltenham this season from the 1st September and there is sure to be plenty of demand as always as the winter approaches. The Festival is often sold out with Gold Cup day the most popular in terms of ticket sales, and that is expected to be the case once again with thousands hoping to see Long Run defend the crown he won last season in such fine style.
As well as the Festival there are a number of other top fixtures for punters to take in at Cheltenham through the season with the Open Meeting in October and the International Meeting in December also likely to be popular. There will be plenty of Festival clues to be garnered at both of those big meetings with course form ahead of the Festival often proving vital for horses and connections. One or two trainers are starting to make their plans public for their horses as we head into September and no doubt we will see some of the big names head to Prestbury Park for the Open Meeting in October. It is often the first time we see some of the potential Cheltenham Festival horses and it gives punters an early chance to assess their chances with some of the big Championship races in mind.
