Gold Cup Is The Feature On Day Four Of Cheltenham Festival
We have a phenomenal final day of the 2017 Cheltenham Fesitval lined up on Friday, and the Cheltenham Gold Cup will be the feature race of the afternoon at 3:30pm, where the Colin Tizzard-trained duo of Cue Card and Native River clash with Djakadam, who is aiming to hand Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh another winner after they bagged a four-timer on Thursday.
The Irish were dominant yesterday as they racked up six winners, and not only will they have Djakadam flying the flag, but Sizing John and Outlander will be another brace of leading Emerald Isle challengers aiming to storm to Cheltenham Gold Cup glory.
Racing kicks off at 1:30pm and Defi Du Seuil and Charli Parcs will both don the JP McManus silks in the JCB Triumph Hurdle, which is a fascinating renewal, while there's a punting head-scratcher at 2:10pm with an ultra-competitive field lining up in the County Hurdle.
Gordon Elliott has already bagged five wins at the festival this week, and he will unleash the hugely talented Death Duty in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at 2:50pm, and he looks the one to beat, while after the Gold Cup at 4:10pm we will see On The Fringe aim to land his third career victory in the Foxhunters' Chase.
We then end the National Hunt extravaganza with two devilishly difficult handicap races, and the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle will be jam-packed with progressive performers at 4:50pm, while the Grand Annual is the customary curtain-closer at 5:30pm and Le Prezien will be aiming to hand Paul Nicholls his first win of the week, in what should be an enthralling finale.
